Title / Summary: Extremely Disappointing Experience at Fairfax Costco Tire Center I had a 1:45 PM appointment today at the Fairfax Costco Tire Center to get 4 new tires installed. The service took over 2 hours. What made this even more frustrating was seeing another customer, who had a later appointment at 2:30 PM, receive their vehicle and leave by 4:00 PM while my car was still not ready. To make matters worse, short after driving away onto the highway, my Low Tire Pressure (TPMS) warning light came on. It appears the tire pressure was not properly calibrated or reset after the installation. Paying for new tires only to deal with unfair waiting times and potential safety concerns right on the highway is completely unacceptable. I hope management takes this feedback seriously to improve their queue management and post-installation quality checks.

Took my vehicle for new Michelin Tires. 2 days after it was done, I applied tire dressing and noticed nicks and scratches around lug holes on all 4 rims!!! I filed a complaint and they initially claimed that they lost the pictures. Then they requested another set of pictures and that’s where I marked all the nicks and scratches. Fairfax Costco continues to claim it’s not the tire technicians fault. I clean my own vehicle and can easily tell that it only happened after Costco replaced my tires. I attached photos and so you can be the judge. If you do not want your rims scratched, avoid this tire shop. I was already warned and should have listened.

I purchased a full set of 4 tires from Costco, which includes free tire rotations. During my last rotation visit, the technicians incorrectly moved the rear tires to the front and vice versa without accounting for the fact that my vehicle uses staggered tire sizes (larger tires in the rear). This is a basic but critical detail that should have been checked before performing the service. Driving with the wrong tire setup can negatively affect handling, performance, and potentially safety. I had to catch the mistake myself afterward and return to have it corrected. I’ve generally had good experiences with Costco Tire Center, but this was disappointing and raises concerns about attention to detail during routine service. If your vehicle has staggered tires, double-check the work before leaving.

Frustrating experience with declining service standards I’ve been a long-time Costco member and usually appreciate the value they offer, but my recent experiences at the Tire Center have been very disappointing. Their scheduling system is completely messed up — even with an appointment, it took over 4 hours to get my vehicle serviced. To fix a flat tire, it incredibly took 28 hours. Even more concerning, last month they forgot to put back the wheel lock nut after servicing. While they later ordered a replacement when I complained, that’s a serious safety lapse that shouldn’t happen in the first place. Costco has always been known for saving customers money — but they need to remember that time is money too. The Tire Center should focus on saving customers’ time and maintaining the high service standards that used to set Costco apart. I really hope management looks into this and improves scheduling efficiency, service quality, and attention to detail. Costco can and should do better.

Costco Tire Center installed my 2005 Honda Civic EX tires recently. The whole process was straightforward. l ordered the tires at the Fairfax warehouse in person and made appointment for installation when the tires were delivered to the warehouse. Installation took about one and half hours which was a dramatic improvement over old procedures. The saving at Costco Tire Center is significant with promotional discount, 5-year road hazard warranty, free inflation and torque check, balance and rotation. The technicians are proficient. The staffs at reception counter are polite and efficient. The new Michelin Defender T+H tries are great with smooth and comfortable rides. Finally the 25-mile torque check for new tires is done ✅ quickly without further appointment. It is a highly recommended safety check for new tires.
